1 Free “Welcome to Medicare” Visit--In the first 12 months you have Part B, your doctor’s visit includes a review of your health, and certain screenings, shots or vaccines (flu & pneumococcal.)
2 Yearly “Wellness” Visit-- After your first 12 months, you’re also entitled to a yearly “wellness” visit. Basically, this is to prevent disease or disability on your current health or risk factors
3 Weight Loss Programs-- Medicare will cover face to face therapy sessions to help you lose weight if you do it in a healthcare setting.
4 Quitting Smoking-- Everyone on a Medicare plan, who are tobacco users, are covered for up to 8 face-to-face visits in a 12-month period.
5 Alcohol Counseling-- Anyone on Medicare is covered for one alcohol misuse screening every year. If your doctor determines you are misusing alcohol or dependent on it, you can get up to 4 brief counseling sessions.
6 Mobility Devices-- Medicare can cover the cost of durable medical equipment (DME’s). Some examples are wheelchairs / scooters / walkers / hospital beds / oxygen / oxygen equipment / CPAP machines.
7 Telemedicine-- Two-way communications like audio or video in real time are available to those on Medicare. If you can’t physically get yourself to a doctor, you have the option to consult with one electronically.
