1 Free “Welcome to Medicare” Visit–In the first 12 months you have Part B, your doctor’s visit includes a review of your health, and certain screenings, shots or vaccines (flu & pneumococcal.)
2 Yearly “Wellness” Visit-– After your first 12 months, you’re also entitled to a yearly “wellness” visit. Basically, this is to prevent disease or disability on your current health or risk factors
3 Weight Loss Programs— Medicare will cover face to face therapy sessions to help you lose weight if you do it in a healthcare setting.
4 Quitting Smoking— Everyone on a Medicare plan, who are tobacco users, are covered for up to 8 face-to-face visits in a 12-month period.
5 Alcohol Counseling— Anyone on Medicare is covered for one alcohol misuse screening every year. If your doctor determines you are misusing alcohol or dependent on it, you can get up to 4 brief counseling sessions.
6 Mobility Devices— Medicare can cover the cost of durable medical equipment (DME’s). Some examples are wheelchairs / scooters / walkers / hospital beds / oxygen / oxygen equipment / CPAP machines.
7 Telemedicine— Two-way communications like audio or video in real time are available to those on Medicare. If you can’t physically get yourself to a doctor, you have the option to consult with one electronically.
